Happy Kitten We all know about the power of the negative - reverse psychology, as experts like to call it. The fact that you’re reading this despite the title just illustrates the point perfectly (and by the way, the kitten’s happily lapping up a bowl of milk so fear not for her).

David Meerman Scott blogs about the fact that the web is the perfect place to try out such tactics to see if they could work for you to bring more visitors to your website. For example, when he relabelled a link ´For Executives only’, the traffic to that link suddenly shot up. I wonder why!

Still, the main point here is that your website gives you the freedom to make changes instantly and see their effect within a few days - or even hours - something you simply cannot do with a printed ad or a brochure.

In the so-called old media - traditional media like print, radio, and television - testing and improving your advertising is time-consuming (often something that takes months or more) and despite the huge benefits, few companies actually do it. On the Internet it’s a snap, but still very few businesses actually bother, either because they don’t know they can, or because they imagine it’s a waste of time.

And yet it has been demonstrated time and time again that even a minor change like tweaking a headline or replacing an image can have a huge and disproportionate impact on the performance of your website. The thing is that there is no way to know what works best without testing.

We see this all the time with the Pay-Per-Click ads we run for our clients - changing a couple of words in a headline, or even changing the order of the two lines of ad text - often results in a considerable boost in the ad’s performance. Just the sort of thing that you’d never know unless you tried!

At Sorted Sites, we already offer you this kind of service, where we tweak various elements of your website and track performance, to make incremental improvements that could double your conversions, triple them, or more! And we are also looking into advanced software technology that will allow us to speed up the process further by running multiple tests at the same time.

A 3,000 mile cruise to Antigua, West Indies from Tenerife, loads of sunshine and fresh air, sounds wonderful, but there is a catch, you have to row. That hasn´t put off Peter Raab and Tim Wilks, they leave Puerto Colon on December 8 in Martha Dos their 7.1 metre long and 1.9 metre wide row boat.

It´s a tough challenge but as well as the personal achievement, they will be raising funds for Orobal (www.orobal.org), a Los Cristianos based charity that helps mentally and physically handicapped children. The 60,000 euro cost of the adventure has been raised through sponsorship and the latest backers to come on board are Freebird  excursions who are also based in Puerto Colon.

Peter, originally from Germany has been living in Tenerife for 10 years and has a good general nautical knowledge through his company, Total Marine. Tim is a late replacement and having just arrived in Tenerife from Darlington, he is frantically catching up on training and taking a series of courses to get him up to speed on sea safety and navigation. A former semi pro rugby player and keen adventurer, he is relishing the challenge.
The boat, Martha Dos, has already made the crossing back in 2001 with a Spanish crew in a time of 61 days, the record stands at 35 days, Peter and Tim will set themselves a modest target, the main think is to get across in one piece.
Huge waves, busy shipping lanes and isolation will be just some of the difficulties the pair have to face but they are fit and ready for anything. Bon voyage chaps.

Most people search for property online much before they ever walk into an estate agent’s office. That’s no secret! And neither is the fact that maintaining a strong Internet presence is vital for success in today’s highly-competitive Real Estate markets.

This is where your real estate blog comes in, and it is one of the most powerful and least expensive tools in an estate agent’s online marketing arsenal.

Setting up a real estate blog is simple - at Sorted Sites we can take care of the design and other technical bits at a very attractive price. And once that’s done, posting articles to your blog is a piece of cake. If you can write an e-mail, you can do it yourself! Or should you like, our professional copywriters can write some or all of your blog posts at competitive rates to help you give your blog the right tone and style.

So, what are the main benefits of blogging?

Once your real estate blog is up and running, you can:

Establish yourself as an authority in your real estate market

By regularly posting interesting and valuable articles and market news to your real estate blog, you provide your readers with the relevant and up-to-date information they seek. This will keep them checking back to your blog and will also project a professional image of your company as estate agents who have their finger on the pulse of the real estate market.

Build a relationship with prospective clients from all over the world

Strong relationships bring good business. Your real estate blog allows you to steadily build a devoted following of readers who are interested in buying property in the areas you operate in. Besides, readers can comment on your blog posts, so you not only get instant feedback, but you get to know your prospects and start building relationships with them even before you meet.

Boost your estate agency’s visibility on the search engines

Search engines like Google love nothing more than a living, changing website that is constantly being updated, so don’t be surprised if you see your dynamic real estate blog overtake your primary website in the search rankings. What’s more, you can link to your main website from your blog to improve its position in the search engines too.

Instantly showcase new properties and new property developments

Your real estate blog is the perfect place to announce new developments and selected properties as soon as they become available. Post pictures, link to more information on your company website and even keep your clients up to date with the construction progress of their off-plan property.

Let everyone know about your in-house news

Expanding to a new area? Opening a new branch? Hiring new staff? You can let the world know all about it on your real estate blog and be seen as a growing and dynamic business.
