At the moment I’m reading THE NEW RULES OF MARKETING & PR by David Meerman Scott and although only half way through the book, Â it has me hooked on its continuous theme..
..that by blogging, using chat rooms, podcasting, news releases and more, company’s can reach buyers directly. That by putting a personality behind your brand you will gain advantage over your competitors!
David goes on to stress about the importance of having good quality content that will be targeted to your customers.
I believe that the above strategy will not hurt your own search engine optimisation either. Google will also be studying a company’s online profile (across their web site, blog and forums they contribute to etc) and if active in these areas then they should have preference at the top of the search results.
Sorted Sites have lauched CanaryPR.com which will allow Canary Islands businesses to issue online press releases for FREE

Hi John,
I might get this book to read then because the aim of my business is ‘personality’ and I find it works for me but I hadn’t thought about contributing to forums etc. and this has given me an idea. I could get together buyers into a Yahoo ‘Chat room’ so that they could discuss their experiences of buying property in Italy. Would this be internet marketing?
