A couple of weeks ago, Google caused quite a stir when they reported record profits for Q3 2009 and heralded the end of the global recession. Today, the US government has reported a 3.5% growth in the US GDP in the same period, a better-than-expected figure that ends a long stream of declines.

Although Wall Street has been showing some signs of recovery for months now, people around the world have still to feel any of the sunshine that is being forecast, and the general perception is still far from optimistic. Of course, this is understandable, because employment figures always lag behind as an indicator of the economy.

However, the undeniable fact is that Google has reported an 8% jump in net revenues in the last quarter, with online advertising expenditure on the rise across the board. This means that the day of reckoning, when smart businesses that recover from the recession are separated from those doomed to oblivion, could be indeed closer than you think. With businesses starting to invest even more in online marketing, the ones that use their money wisely are poised to get an edge over their competitors, and this will surely make a huge difference in the coming months and years.

As the world economy starts to grow again, there are going to be lots of opportunities for companies to stake out their territories in the diverse niche markets that will emerge like new land from beneath the waves of recession. The secret to be able to do so is to plan out a solid online marketing strategy and put it into action as quickly as possible.
